trail walk and one lovely blog award

Shyloh's new bridle has opened up a world of opportunity to us! Oh, the things we will be able to accomplish now! Today, we went on a trail walk!

Sandy and Forseti were going on a trail ride, so I asked to tag along at the walk. I bridled Shy up, put on her boots, and off we went. We went through tall grass, a field, and along a gravel road.
Out in the field

Shy was perfect! No spooks!! And she kept up a good walking pace. The only time she even lifted her head and perked her ears was when a man was cutting wood or something off in the distance. We encountered cars, frogs, barking dogs, and Forseti spooking at his own shadow. Shy seemed as calm and comfortable as can be. I am excited about her trail horse potential!

The funny thing about Shy is that she is such a stickler for the rules. She will only walk on if I am in the correct position between her head and shoulder. If I get too far ahead because she is being pokey, she will stop, and I have to re-position myself to get her going again.

Shy and I really worked up a sweat on our trail walk. It was good for both of us and it is something we will definitely be doing again, hopefully soon! And eventually, our trail walks will turn into trail rides.
Shy likes trail walks! Big smile!
As a reward for her good trail walk behavior, I gave Shyloh some apples to bob for in a bucket. She figured out if she drinks some of the water, then she can press the apple to the bottom of the bucket, making it easier to eat!  She then got to graze outside with Forseti. I do not know what I am getting myself into with her and Forseti, I just hope they do not become buddy sour!

I won an blogging award!! It is a Lovely Blog award from Wolfie at What was I thinking. . . . . ? So, as part of this award, I am to pass it on to 15 other blogs and share 7 things about myself. So. . .here are the lucky 15!

And here are the seven things about myself. . .
1. I am easily excited. Small things make me happy, like today. I saw two big frogs on our trail walk! Actually, Shyloh spotted them first.
2. I hate doing dishes, but I do not mind doing laundry.
3. I love CSI and Law and Order type shows.
4. I cannot stand reality TV.
5. My favorite color is blue.
6. I love my phone. Seriously, I could not live without it. It does so much stuff! Games, internet, apps, phone. Most of my blog pictures are from the phone.
7. I have road rage. Driving is not my favorite thing to do.

  12. Oh my... thanks for the award. How sweet of you! I love how you are doing so much with Shy...from the ground! It makes me think I better get out and do more with my guys. I really think that they like attention - like to be doing something - whether it is from the ground, on top or behind!
