hump day haflinger series #17

The next Haflinger hails all the way from England. Stacy Partlett has been riding since she was four years old and was in Pony Club for 13 years. She currently rides with a local Riding Club and attends area level Events with her Haflinger.
Arthur
Haflinger: Millslade Arthur or Arthur or Arth
Sire and Dam: Amos (by Amadeus, out of Capri) and Carmina (by Nabucco, out of Catelina).
Age: 5 year old gelding
Height: 14.3 hh
Favorite Food: Hay, carrots, and apples. He thinks tidbits are poison.
Personality: Arthur is a bit of a grump and very, very impatient. But under his grouchyness, he is also loving and loyal. Arthur also has a party trick. . .he will bow by crossing his front legs and leaning back before dragging his front legs to stand up again. He does this when he is standing around and waiting.
Likes: Eating, in true Haflinger fashion.
Discipline: Showing (Halter), Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, and Trec.

Arthur is believed to be the only Haflinger to ever compete at British Eventing, something Stacy is very proud about. Eventing consists of Dressage, Show Jumping, and a Cross Country course.

Trec is a two part event. The first part involves reading a map and going through checkpoints at certain speeds and the second part is an obstacle course.
Leaping!
Awards:
  • 2013 Riding Club Bursary
  • Championships of the Novice Riden Haflingers at the Breed Show
  • Won numerous classes at local shows
Arthur's trick!
Stacy discovered Haflingers when her mum bought a little 13.1 hh Haflinger named Wally for the both of them. Wally turned out to be lovable trouble and Stacy knew she needed a Haflinger of her own. She got Arthur, who had been to several homes before he came to her. She doesn't understand why, since he is such a great boy!

A couple months ago, Arthur was not acting like himself, so Stacy gave him some time off from work. When they returned to work, he was still acting odd so Stacy had the vet out. Turns out, Arthur has arthritis in the vertebrae of his neck, which caused pressure on his spinal cord and he was confused about where his feet were. He had been treated with steroid injections and he is doing much better. Stacy is excited about what the new year holds for them! She is going to register Arthur in British Eventing so they can keep on competing. I wish them the best of luck!
