monday musings by shyloh #120

When Allie got to the barn, I was napping in the back corner with Dexter and a lookout draft. But I promptly got up for a quick visit.
Snooze . . .wasn't ready to be done, though
Then, we got to practicing. . .

Sorry about the bumpy-ness, but Reba did not enjoy the fact that Terry was paying attention to me and my cuteness and not her. So She kept nudging and bumping Terry.
Look at my lush, white mane
I am getting much better at bowing, I just have a hard time deciding what to do with my front feet on my own. When left to my own devices, I just keep backing up until I hit a wall.
Getting there. . .
The best thing about learning tricks is that I get lots of treats! I like getting treats so much, I even tried bowing on my own in the pasture.
Give me treats!
I have been good lately and coming inside like a good pony. Kyle says that sometimes, he comes to get me and I start to turn away, but then he asks "Do you want your dinner or not?" and I immediately go in. And lucky me, the past couple nights I have had the minions distract him and he forgot to clip me in my stall, so I got to roam the back of the barn all night! Whoo hoo!

And in all this cold, Jaime has been crafting. Look what she made!
It's me, smiling!!
Now we are forever immortalized in clay!
It's all of us! Reba, Isaac, Clutch, Notch, me. Not to size, cause I'm the largest.
Cute, right?

monday musings by shyloh #105

I love lazy Sundays.

Laying on a bed of hay, don't want to get dirty!
I nap with the minions in the sun. They like to get super muddy, but I prefer to stay clean.
Nap Party
Sometimes Allie wakes me up from my lovely naps and I have to give her the stink eye.
Don't even try to make me work!
Do work? Me? Never! I am a wild and free pony!

And I finally got to go back in with the big guys! I love my minions, but I love my round bale more!

loving lazy sunny sundays

Such a sunny, beautiful day out. . .I could barely tell it was under 30 degrees! When I got to the barn, Shyloh was taking her usual between noon and one nap. She was standing, so I went to the heated barn to chat and have a sloppy joe lunch with my barn buddies. When I got done, Shy was just beginning to move, but it was not because she was awake. . .she moved to another sunny spot to lay.

I love love love that she lays outside. Have I mentioned that before? She never did that at the old barn, but here, I catch her napping and laying quite often.

I was hoping for some snuggle time, but Shy got up. Oh well. We did our lunging and stretches, then went back in the sun to hang out. And Shy got her wormer.
Kisses anyone?
Shy was very mischievous today. She stuck her foot then her head in a bucket. . .she dumped her food. . .she kept grabbing a towel out of her grooming bag. . .she kept kicking and picking up another bucket. . .ate a carrot off of a snowman's face. . .then she would smile in my face about all of it.  Silly pony!
There was no reason for the foot in the bucket. . .
She was convinced something tasty was in there
Shy would much rather eat from the snow
My friend Terry came to visit and Shy was extra cute for her. . .it helped that Terry had brought some carrots! Then Terry headed Shy and I climbed up on her. Ugh. . .my balance is atrocious! I need to work on that!

And. . .has the shedding begun?
It's there, I promise!
See that? It is a lone hair from her blaze, fallen out all on her own.

Why is Shy the only horse that has not begun her shedding? All the other horses are shedding like crazy. I tried pulling hairs out, but they are rooted in deep. Perhaps Shy wants to be a shaggy beast for forever? Perhaps Shy's body knows something about the weather that we don't? I hope not! While I am not looking forward to all the shedding, I am looking forward to sleek and shiny pony.
More naps. Pony life is hard work!
What a pleasantly perfect Sunday at the barn.

wishes do come true!

It finally happened! I have wished and hoped that one day I would get to see this and tonight, Shyloh made my dream come true! I had been at the barn all day, well all weekend really. Shy spent the days outside in the snow and I spent the days working in the barn.

But today, as I was taking grain out to the pasture boarded horses, I walked past Shy's stall. My first thought upon approach was, where is Shy? But then I saw her. . .

. . .laying down!!! This is not the best photo, but I was shocked. Stunned. I dropped the grain and stood frozen. I was afraid to move because I did not want her to get up. Finally I came to my senses and took my phone out of my pocket. I snapped this picture.

Then I thought, how strange that she is laying down now. Her door is open. There are other people at the barn and a horse in the arena. Odd. Panic set in for a split second. Is she sick? Is she colicking? But upon closer inspection, she was eating her hay while laying down. True Haflinger.

I moved in to get a closer picture, but she got up. Oh well.I got what I wanted. Next wish. . .to be able to touch her while she is laying down.
